I am so excited about sharing this with you today.

For months I’ve been working on a project that is finally ready to unveil.

In the process of working with so many mothers all around the world, I’ve come to see that our generation is carving out a new way of mothering. As modern women, we are navigating the path of motherhood while honoring our ambitions, passions and great purpose and in the process … creating a whole new path for ourselves and our daughters who will be coming after us.

From this realization, a vision has grown to host a small group of inspirational moms that are doing heart-centered work in the world to tell their story, share their lessons and inspire/engage other moms along the path as well.

That is exactly how The M.A.P.P. (Motherhood, Ambition, Passion and Purpose) Gathering was conceived and born.

I’ve gathered an extraordinary group of 9 mothers who are also nationally recognized authors, speakers, artists and experts together in an intimate interview series.

So we can open the dialogue about exactly how we want to embrace being a mother and woman in the world.

So now, will you join me? This is a completely no-cost gift of love from me to you. All you have to do is click here to sign up to receive the 9 interviews.

I will be releasing them one each day beginning February 14 (a Valentine’s gift of the most meaningful kind!) Until then, all I ask is that you share this gathering with all the women and mothers you know so we can reach as many women worldwide as possible.

Click here to sign up! I can not wait to share these amazing conversations with you…and to begin a dialogue between us all on these heart-centered issues.

Much love to you,

Lisa

I recently hired a woman to help me with basic housekeeping a few times a week. It has been beyond heavenly.

But getting to the place where I was willing to ask for and accept that help was not a smooth road.

Many mothers have a tremendously hard time asking for help in their lives.

There are some specific reasons why that is the case. And specific steps we need to take in order to strengthen our “receiving” muscles.

If you ever struggle with asking for help, you’re not alone– and you’ll want to check out the video below….pronto.

//

Quick Point Summary of the Video

Asking for help is only one part of the puzzle– receiving the help is a muscle that for many of us is weak from the lack of use…and the only way receiving and accepting more help in your life gets easier is by practice. These steps, though, will help as you get into shape.

1. Do the inner work around what you believe about yourself when you need and want to ask for help.

In your most honest and open moments fill in this sentence:

If I ask for help that mean I’m _________________________________.

Bring the crooked beliefs out of the shadows so you can do the work you need in order to let them go.

2. Get very clear on exactly where you most need and want help.

3. Clearly ask and accept help in those areas– even if it feels awkward or hard at first. Working out muscles gets easier as they get stronger.

What is your experience with asking for help? What inner beliefs does it bring up for you?

So… let’s say your in a funk.

Whether it’s one too many backyard BBQs, boxes of girl scout cookies or glasses of wine….you find yourself in a stretch of days where your in a downward spiral with unhealthy choices.

Recently, a mom asked me to address how to bounce back when you’ve really “blown it”.

In this video, I share not only my thoughts on these health ruts, but my top 3 strategies that I use every time I notice my momentum slipping and feel that “ick” of too many poor choices in a row.

Click on the video below to check out my personal 1-2-3 punch to get back on track pronto.

Here’s the “nutshell” summary:

A. Expect to get off track. It’s part of life, and most especially part of a busy mom’s life.

B. Have a personal plan for when you begin to notice your in a funk. The sooner you catch yourself the better.

C. My 3 part strategy is:

1. Water, Water, Water and my daily supplements.

2. Clean, Green and Crisp Veggies as well as Brown Rice. (I go for cleansers, scrubbers, and grounding foods)

3. Get out of my head, by getting into my body. Through stretching, yoga, energy techniques or a good long walk in nature.

How well we keep up momentum for healthy, vibrant living is the degree to which we recognize when we are off track and work to redirect ourselves back to center.

That requires:

1. Honest expectations about what getting “off track” means (it does NOT mean you are a failure, weak or that you suck).

2. A way to check in with yourself regularly so you catch yourself when you are “a bit” off center and not “way out of orbit” off center.

3. Have a simple, clear and doable plan that makes your body, mind and spirit feel clear, calm and nourished– pronto.

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Please also share on Facebook, Twitter or with any other groups of moms you think would find it valuable!

P.S. Class has begun- TODAY! Still room if you’d like to join me as we explore our inner biochemistries through deeply restorative self care practices in order to live calm, energized, productive lives. Click here for more info on Reset, Refresh and Radiate.

She has caused me to go deeper in processing this core trap we fall into, this societal distraction that keeps our focus away from the truly important. And that is, at the core, the belief that we are never enough.

We are not smart enough, not thin enough, not happy enough, don’t have enough time, don’t have enough space, don’t have enough energy, don’t have a big enough house, don’t have nice enough clothes, didn’t get enough sleep…it goes on and on.

But what all of these statements are really saying is that we are not enough.

As Brene puts it, we are simply not “extraordinary” and when it comes down to it, our desire to be extraordinary is really a desire for others to perceive us as extraordinary.

When extraordinary becomes the goal (and by extraordinary she emphasizes that what we really mean is “how others perceive us”), that goal strips us of our life.

Because the truth is ordinary moments are where our treasure lies. And no one knows better than a mother.

We are daily, moment by moment, faced with the most ordinary things.

Loading the washer, brushing the hair, matching the socks, tugging at our knees, filling cups of water, cutting off the crust, reading simple books hundreds of times over, packing bags, wiping noses, hugging the hurts, going mad over the constant squabbling, fretting over who our kids are dating.

And when we trade the ordinary for the search of the extraordinary we miss the gold. We miss being present to the gift of joy that is hidden in the folds and creases of our days. And we always have access to our true selves in ordinary moments.

One of the things I love about the honor of helping moms change the trajectory of their lives toward wholeness and health is that it cultivates a practice of tuning in to the here and now. We become our own experts, through skills and tools that help us check in and translate what we hear; to be present to what is really happening, right here, right now.

In our body. In our mind. In our spirit.

The goal is not perfection. The goal is growth.

And when we start to feel stagnant and stuck- it has nothing to do with needing a more extraordinary life– it has to do with identifying what is clogging up the flow, where is growth stagnant.

We can’t grow as mothers in the world if we aren’t growing as women in the world.

The biggest sabotager of growth is the puruit of perfection. And the best fuel for the pursuit of perfection is the belief that we are not enough. Right here, right now. All of us, even the dark spot, the shadows, the imperfect places.

What if we took a deep breath and rested into the knowledge that we have all we need, that we are all we should be, and that we are in the perfect place right here and right now to completely open up to true life and overflowing joy.

You know what’s I’d bet surfaces? Gratitude. And that is to remedy for it all.

Start now. Tell me in the comments- right now, this moment, what are you grateful for?
